馃幃 Opinions on Recent Video Games

By Jhon Wilmer Hurtado

Hey, gamer! Welcome to my blog. This time, I’m going to talk about the most recent games shaking up the digital world. Is it worth spending your time and money on them? I’ll tell you here, like we’re chatting after a good gaming session.

馃‍♂️ 1. Project Zomboid: The most realistic and brutal apocalypse you’ll ever live

  • Platform: PC
  • Genre: Survival / Sandbox / Zombies

My experience:
There’s no happy ending in Project Zomboid—and that’s the magic. It’s a hardcore survival simulator that makes you think about even when to take a shower. Every session is different and forces you to improvise with whatever you find.

The good: Total freedom, constant tension, amazing mods.
The bad: Not visually appealing for everyone. The learning curve is steep.

"It's not just about surviving the zombies, it's about surviving yourself."

馃挜 2. Helldivers 2: Democracy delivered with plasma and co-op chaos

  • Platform: PS5, PC
  • Genre: Co-op Shooter / Third Person

My experience:
Few things are as satisfying as liberating planets with your friends while yelling “For Super Earth!”. It’s chaotic, challenging, and a lot of fun. Every mission feels like a B-movie scene, but with real strategy.

The good: Frenetic co-op, epic weapons, tons of laughs.
The bad: Can get repetitive if played solo. Some annoying launch bugs.

"A game where dying from friendly fire is almost a tradition... and we celebrate it."

馃彴 3. Manor Lords: Medieval strategy with the soul of a realistic simulator

  • Platform: PC (Early Access)
  • Genre: Strategy / City Builder / Medieval

My experience:
Visually stunning and with a well-crafted medieval atmosphere. You’re not here to conquer quickly, you’re here to build slowly and manage every resource like gold. You truly feel the weight of being a feudal lord.

The good: Graphic detail, realism, deep management.
The bad: Many features still missing (it’s in early access), limited AI.

"It’s like Age of Empires but if Age had taxes, hunger, and complaining villagers."

⚔️ 4. Path of Exile 2 : The evolution of an ARPG titan

  • Platform: PC, Consoles (beta 2024)
  • Genre: Action RPG / Hack and Slash

My experience:
What they’ve shown so far is simply impressive. Visually renewed, more fluid, with new systems that respect the depth of the original. It looks like PoE 2 is ready to go head-to-head with Diablo IV—and win.

The good: Revamped skill tree, improved animations, more tactical combat.
The bad: Still in development; we need to test the real endgame and balance.

"Path of Exile 2 doesn’t aim to be simpler it aims to be brutally more complex… and I love that."

馃幃 Final Thoughts

Four worlds, four different ways to unplug and enjoy epic stories and moments. Each one of these games offers something unique:

  • Zomboid teaches you that you will die… and that’s okay.
  • Helldivers 2 turns chaos into shared fun.
  • Manor Lords rewards patience and strategy.
  • PoE 2 challenges you to master deep systems like a true combat alchemist.

As a developer and a gamer, I love analyzing not just how games look, but how they feel. These games aren’t just played, they’re lived.
